 Improved looms for women durrie weavers from the Tharu community, Uttar Pradesh(2014-17)Phase I

WWF-India has been working with the weavers of Tharu community living in the northern buffer of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, located in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh for building their capacities on weaving and thus augmenting their income. The women associated with ‘Tharu Hath Karga Gharelu Udyog’, a Self Help Group (SHG) have been provided with trainings on skill building, design improvement, quality control as well as standardization and costing. Support has also been provided to establish market linkages and for improvising the existing looms in order to make them more conveneient and efficient to use.
